Biography
Dr. Roxana (Roxi) Mesías is the Assistant Director at the Weill Cornell Graduate School of Medical Sciences in the Office of Access, Belonging, and Student Success, leveraging her Ph.D. training to lead inclusive frameworks for professional and career growth and support student groups. Dr. Mesías oversees the Esprit de Corps (EdC) Program, a peer-mentoring initiative, and manages the NIH-NIGMS-funded IMSD grant. Alongside Dr. Yazmin Carrasco, she develops professional development programs, mentors students, co-facilitates the IMSD course discussions, and secures funding for caregiver expenses at conferences. Along with the team at OABSS, Dr. Mesías aims to create inclusive spaces for students through mentorship and advocacy, while also creating opportunities for growth as scientists and individuals.
Roxi obtained her B.A. in Biochemistry from Wheaton College (MA), where she attended as a Posse Scholar. She continued her graduate studies in Neuroscience at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and has been dedicated to mentoring and advocating for students throughout her career. She has also been awarded prestigious fellowships, including the NIH-NIMH T32 training grant, the Autism Speaks Weatherstone Pre-Doctoral Fellowship, and the Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award (NRSA) Individual Fellowship (F31) from the NIH National Institutes of Mental Health.
