Esprit de Corps - Peer-Mentorship Program

The Esprit de Corps (EdC) Program is a near-peer mentorship initiative designed to foster connection, belonging, and support for first-year PhD students across the Tri-I community.

First-year PhD students are paired with senior PhD student mentors (second year and above) who provide guidance and support throughout the academic year. Mentor–mentee pairs meet monthly to discuss topics ranging from navigating graduate school and research expectations to work–life balance.

Senior PhD students selected as mentors have a strong interest in developing their leadership and mentorship skills while supporting incoming students during their transition into graduate school. Through these relationships, the program builds a strong sense of community across the Tri-I community.

In addition, EdC mentors and mentees participate in professional development workshops and community-building activities with the broader WCGS community.
