Research

In concert with Dr. Lonny Levin, we identified, purified and cloned soluble adenylyl cyclase which is a source of the second messenger cAMP in mammalian cells. The enzyme is highly expressed in sperm and plays an essential role in sperm function.

Biography

I received my MD and PhD degree from the Eberhard Karl University of Tübingen followed by post doctoral training at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. In 1992 I started as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmacology at Weill Cornell Medicine and since 2002 Dr. Lonny Levin and I co-lead our shared laboratory.
