Doctoral ProgramPopulation Health Sciences
The PhD program in Population Health Sciences prepares students to be leading researchers in population health sciences: an emerging interdisciplinary scientific field that aims to improve population health by addressing the social, behavioral, and biological determinants of health and health disparities across populations and seeks to improve healthcare delivery.
The program equips students with skills to design, implement, and evaluate research studies that address critical issues in health outcomes and delivery of healthcare services. Students complete coursework in biostatistics, data science, epidemiology, health informatics, and health policy and economics, as well as principles of population health sciences. Students also receive hands-on training in state-of-the-art data science methodologies such as machine learning to become adept at cutting-edge tools to solve complex population health challenges.
Featuring a partnership between Weill Cornell’s Department of Population Health Sciences and the Population Sciences Research Program of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK), our students have the opportunity to work with internationally renowned and federally funded faculty in multiple areas including biostatistics & data science, epidemiology, health informatics, health policy & economics, outcomes research, and behavioral sciences; addressing multiple determinants of health and health disparities across populations and improving healthcare delivery are cross-cutting themes within these disciplines.
