Biography

Dr. Omar Abdul-Rahman is an ABMGG-certified clinical geneticist with nearly two decades of experience in pediatric, adult, and prenatal genetics. He has practiced since 2005 and has worked extensively with genetic counselors across multiple clinical settings.

From 2019 to 2023, Dr. Rahman was the founding Medical Director of the genetic counseling program at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC), where he also served as faculty in the ACGME-accredited medical genetics residency. He previously held leadership roles including Associate Program Director for Pediatrics, Vice Chair for Faculty Development, and Division Chief and Department Director of Medical Genetics at two institutions.

Currently, Dr. Rahman is Chief of Medical Genetics in Pediatrics at Weill Cornell Medicine and Co-Medical Director of the Weill Cornell Genetic Counseling Program. He has served on the USMLE Pharmacology/Biochemistry Test Material Development Committee for 10 years, co-chairing it for four years, and is a member of the Board of Directors of FASD United.

In education, Dr. Rahman has taught genetics to first-year medical, nursing, and pharmacy students, pediatric residents, and fellows, as well as genetic counseling students in both classroom and clinical settings.
